Derive Notes Pty Ltd

Derive is an intelligent notebook for maths, science, and engineering students. You write by hand on an infinite canvas, and Derive reads the handwriting as real mathematics. It checks each line against the one above it, so a dropped sign or a mis-copied term is flagged where it happens instead of at the end of the page.

The app runs on iPad with Apple Pencil, on Mac and Windows, and on the web. Pages sync across every device you sign in on, and they stay readable offline. Beyond the checking, Derive graphs what you write, runs code cells on the page, generates practice questions from your own working, searches every page in natural language, and exports to LaTeX, PDF, PNG, and SVG.

Who builds it

Derive is built by Derive Notes Pty Ltd (ACN 696 859 597), a company registered in Queensland, Australia. The product launched in Australia in August 2026 and is used by students at Melbourne, Monash, UNSW, Sydney, ANU, Queensland, Adelaide, and Western Australia. What has shipped and what comes next is published on the roadmap.

How it is paid for

Derive is a paid subscription with a 7-day free trial. There are no ads, and we do not sell your data. The recognition and checking engine costs real compute on every page you write, and a subscription is what pays for it. Full prices are on the pricing page, and your notes stay exportable whether or not you keep paying.
